TRAVEL PLANNING TIPS AND RESOURCES
These are the resources, websites, and apps we use all the time to plan our travels. We only suggest the one´s we use and can recommend.
FLIGHTS
TRAVELSTART.CO.ZA
For flights from South Africa, we use Travelstart. They have the best prices and you can book flights online to pretty much anywhere in the world.
SKYSCANNER.COM
Skyscanner compares hundreds of airlines with prices for the flights you are looking for and provide you with the best deals.
ACCOMMODATION
BOOKING.COM
We almost exclusively use booking.com for booking accommodation. We find that they consistently have the best prices on accommodation worldwide. The platform is very super friendly. We love that you can read reviews of places by other travellers to know how good a place and/or its facilities are.
After 10 bookings, you can become a "Genius" member, then you get even further discounts on booking prices as well as other perks such as later check-out times.
AIRBNB
We don´t use AirBnb that often because they often have extra service charges that adds to the price. However, you can find very nice whole apartments or houses on this site. We stayed in an amazing apartment in Iceland for example, at a super cheap price. Totally worth checking out, especially for bigger groups when you looking to book more than 1 room in a private space.

VOLUNTEERING
WORKAWAY.INFO
Volunteering, as in offering your skills, in return for accommodation is a great way to safe money when travelling. You get to spend a longer time in a place to really experience the culture and vibe.
You usually offer your skills whether it is painting or gardening or social media or whatever, usually for a free bed, and a meal if you¨re lucky.
You also give back which is very rewarding.
